I completed a 12-week Web Development Immersive bootcamp at General Assembly.
The course prepared me to become a well-versed full stack web developer with solid time management skills, a meticulous workflow, and a well-rounded exposure to the latest industry standards.
The curriculum moves at a very fast pace in order to complete the dense curriculum within the 3-month time frame. With so much material to cover, I became extremely comfortable using issue queues on Github, reading documentation, and using online resources to solve problems on my own.
I developed 4 projects in total, two being open-ended prompts. Each project allowed for no more than 8 days to complete from planning to deployment, with as few as 3 days being alloted for the group-oriented project.
I received my B.A. in Economics with a minor in Philosophy from the Morrissey College of Arts/Sciences at Boston College.
My favorite courses were a Logic course in Philosophy and Econometric Methods.
Logic covered boolean logic and conditional interactions in depth.
I was deeply fascinated with the prevalence of logical operations in nearly every facet of life, and how Web and Software development are just concrete application of these abstract principles.
Econometric Methods was my most challenging course, demanding a deep understanding of regression models.
My final project involved manipulating South African census data via Stata to determine the health of a new-born child given over 30 variables.
I've always had a deep passion for technology, with dreams of working on a compelling product.
Web design deeply taps into my desire to create things, and provides endless opportunities for ingenuity.
Coding allows me to think outside the box and exersize my creativity whilst applying my mathematically oriented mind in endlessly unique ways.
I love to build computers with custom water-cooling loops, and have recently been planning on building a DIY drone from scratch.
Originally my interest lied in the construction and design aspects of the project, but web development has opened my eyes to the world of actually programming some of the controller functionalities!
Throughout highschool I stayed very occupied playing golf and water polo.
Water polo taught me the importance of teamwork, dedication, and responsibility.
Our team won the state championship two years in a row, in large part due to our spirit, comraderie, and passion as a team.
